When visiting Morocco, exploring the vast Sahara desert is a must. This 4-day tour from Agadir to the Erg Chegaga dunes promises a once-in-a-lifetime journey. Enjoy the peace of the desert, golden sunsets over the dunes, camel trekking, and stargazing in a traditional Berber camp. This all-inclusive package lets you experience the rich traditions, oases, and kasbahs of southern Morocco in comfort and style.
Begin your desert journey with a scenic drive through Taroudant, known as “Little Marrakech.” Pass through saffron and argan landscapes as you head toward the High Atlas Mountains. Explore the UNESCO-listed ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, famous for being a backdrop in movies like The Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Overnight in Ouarzazate with dinner and breakfast.
After breakfast, travel through the Draa Valley with its endless palm groves and kasbahs. Stop at Tamnougalt for a visit to its historic kasbah before continuing to Zagora. Explore the green pottery village of Tamegroute and its ancient library, home to manuscripts from the 11th century. Arrive in M’hamid where you ride a camel to your desert camp for an overnight under the stars.
Wake up to the magic of the desert and head deeper into the wilderness by 4x4. Cross dunes and rocky plateaus toward Erg Chegaga, Morocco’s largest dunes. Have lunch under the shade of tamarisk trees. Spend the afternoon enjoying sandboarding, camel rides, and sunset views. Spend the night in a traditional nomad tent with a campfire and local music.
Rise early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, take the off-road route across Lake Iriki and follow the old Paris-Dakar Rally path. Stop in Foum Zguid for tea, then continue to Taznakht and Taliouine, known for their saffron and Berber carpets. Drive through argan forests to Taroudant before returning to Agadir in the evening.
